Organizing Your Pet’s Space When You’re Renting a Home in Pleasanton

Pleasanton Tenant Spending a Lazy Afternoon with Their DogPleasanton pet owners know that caring for a dog, cat, or other animals also means having an assortment of pet-related things. Beds, toys, dishes, leashes, and more can quickly become a cluttered mess unless you have a way to keep them organized. Without a doubt, there are quite a few methods to keep your pet accessories under control and easy to find. By faithfully applying one or more of these strategies, you can easily keep your pet’s area organized and your home clutter-free.

Pet Feeding Station

One proven way to keep your pet’s area clean and attractive is to create a pet feeding station. A feeding station could have a bin for food and treats, hooks for leashes and accessories, and a pull-out drawer with food bowls. This way, the whole thing will stay precisely in place. You could even buy or repurpose a cabinet, side table, or other pieces of furniture, something that will match well with your currently being used décor.

Walking Station

One more excellent method to keep your pet’s accessories organized is with a walking station. Consider using pet-themed wall décor, hooks, decorative baskets, or other elements to create a place to hang accessories and keep all the necessary items in one place. Then, when the time is right to take your dog, cat, or even an iguana out for a stroll, you’ll have everything you need.

Under-Bed Storage

Pet beds can take up a lot of floor space. Why not maximize your square footage by having some storage intended to fit underneath a pet bed? With a few containers or drawers and some ingenuity, you could create a bed frame that has space for storing toys, grooming supplies, and accessories. By using drawers, you also put all your pet’s things neatly out of sight when not in use.

Creative Storage Ideas

Obviously, even just choosing for some attractive storage bins or baskets can go a long way toward keeping your pet’s area organized. You could use a set of nesting bins or baskets to collect items of different sizes. These can be placed neatly in a corner or tucked in a convenient spot. Or maybe invest in an ottoman or chest that can be used for toys and other items. Ottomans and chests can do double-duty as great furniture pieces in a living room, adding aesthetic appeal while keeping your pet’s things all in one place.

If you need more place to put some stuff, you could even repurpose an old armoire, cabinet, or other pieces of furniture to use for pet supplies. Pre-owned furniture pieces are often easy to find and inexpensive to buy and can be painted to match your home’s interior décor.

De-Clutter Regularly

One of the proven ways to keep an organized pet area is to de-clutter regularly. Donate or throw out old leashes, broken toys, and any food items your pet won’t eat. Only keep the items that you and your pet use often. Consider donating anything in good condition to a local rescue or shelter. In this way, you’ll help out other pets and have a number of things to keep organized at the same time.
